The SRP is a refugee resettlement program that enables qualified United Nations refugees to enter Canada as permanent residents and pursue their education at Canadian universities and colleges. It is internationally unique in its status as a student-to-student private sponsorship program, and has recently been endorsed by the UNHCR.

Our Student Levy
On March 10th, 2017, we received the news that our referendum to approve a $2 student levy was approved by the students of the University of Lethbridge. This was the culmination of a year of incredibly hard work on behalf of all involved in WUSC, and the beginning of an amazing, sustainable program at the U of L.
In the interest of transparency, we'll post more to this section as the details of the student levy are finalized. |

Our Local Committee
Our Local Committee (the WUSC terminology for a club) was established in November 2015 by a small group of students, under the tutelage of Dr. Anne Dymond.
Although we were told that organizing and fundraising for our first student refugee would probably take upwards of two years, the amazing support of University of Lethbridge administration and the hard work of our club members allowed us to bring welcome the first SRP student to Lethbridge in August 2016, after only four months of fundraising! We have weekly meetings, monthly campus-wide events, and regular social events! |
